Join us as Otago Museum comes alive with light, colour, and festivities to celebrate South Asian heritage in Dunedin. Diwali is the festival of light. It symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and celebrates the goddess of prosperity. Get your Diwali on with henna hand painting (mehndi), put a bindi on your forehead, and learn how to wrap a turban or drape a saree, all for free! There are also stalls where you can buy saree and jewellery to take home with you.
Arasan is proud to announce the next planned event, the Indian Cultural Evening, to be held in #Rotorua in collaboration with Rotorua Multicultural Council and Bay of Plenty Rotorua Indian Association. Featuring the super talented band Mokshabase, along with other cultural performances by the locals, this is an event not to be missed! Numbers are limited and there will be no door sales so book your tickets through. Tickets include dinner and all proceeds go to Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust.
Pukekohe celebrates Sri Lankan evening! Arasan is once again proud to organize an event in partnership with Pukekohe Sri Lankan community for a fun-filled family day, doubling as a fundraiser to support the crisis in Sri Lanka. Mark your calendars! There’ll be Sri Lankan delicacies, baila and Tamil Kuththu DJ music, traditional games, kids activities and even an award for best traditional dress! All proceeds will go to support those suffering in the Sri Lankan crisis.
Arasan Trust was honored and priveleged to be requested by the Dunedin Indian Community to coordinate the celebration of the 76th India Independence Day, with support from the Indian High Commission of New Zealand. Join us for the flag ceremony, speeches and other cultural activities in commemoration of this historical event.

Arasan NZ Trust, in collaboration with Alexandra Welcoming Communities and Central Otago District Council, brings to you the South Asian Cultural Festival, in a first-of-its kind free family event in Alexandria! It’ll be an afternoon to remember with fun, food and music, with opportunities to participate in fashion shows, Bollywood dancing and more!
